"Adrenal fatigue"
The cleanest verdict in this lexicon: the only systematic review of the claim concludes, in its own words, that "adrenal fatigue is still a myth". The fatigue is real; tired adrenals as its cause has zero substantiation.

The only systematic review of adrenal fatigue is titled "Adrenal fatigue does not exist". Its conclusion, verbatim: "adrenal fatigue is still a myth."
Significant findings
The story goes that chronic stress exhausts your adrenal glands until they cannot make enough cortisol. Hence the fatigue, the brain fog, the salt cravings - and the supplements sold to fix it.
The term has no founding paper. It was coined in a 2001 trade book, and the coiner's website sells adrenal-support supplements today.
58 studies reviewed. No substantiation found.
Two endocrine societies on two continents say the same thing in their patient guidance. What is real nearby is adrenal insufficiency, or Addison's disease - a testable, treatable failure of those glands.
Your fatigue is real. "Tired adrenals" as its cause is not, and chasing it delays finding what actually is.
Worth asking
Ask what should be ruled out - there is a standard workup for persistent fatigue and it is worth having. Ask whether any adrenal test is indicated, and if so which one endocrinologists actually use. If you take prescribed steroids, never stop abruptly: any change belongs in a prescriber conversation with a taper plan.
